QA Software Engineer

Physical AI/Robotics at the Edge | High Ownership & Product Influence

Forget robotic lab projects folding laundry. We're shipping a revolution. We are building the largest industrial robotic workforce on Earth to revitalize American manufacturing in the dirty, dull and dangerous tasks.

We are a small team with deep roots in manufacturing, industrial automation and physical AI, and we are tackling one of the most formidable engineering challenges of our time: deploying and orchestrating fleets of intelligent industrial robots at the edge. To do this, we are unleashing the full power of NVIDIA's most advanced compute, SOTA ML models in harsh environments where 99.99% task completion isn't a goal—it's the starting point.

As QA Lead, you will take ownership of defining, implementing, and running testing processes for both software and hardware components. You will identify edge cases, verify system performance, and help shape a testing framework that ensures reliability in the field. You will also collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to make sure releases meet the highest standards.

Workr is a small, fast-moving, high-output team. While this is primarily a QA role, we expect you to initially contribute to either software development or mechatronic/mechanical design and fabrication as we scale. If you’re an ambitious software engineer eager to take ownership of QA while gaining hands-on robotics hardware experience, we encourage you to apply. Similarly, if you’re a hardware or mechatronics engineer with coding skills and a passion for building QA expertise, you’ll be a strong fit.

What You’ll Do

  • Surface, document, and track current product limitations and edge cases
  • Run release testing and provide sign-off on software and hardware performance
  • Design and implement a semi-automated testing framework for complex hardware/software systems
  • Define test processes and best practices to ensure repeatable, high-quality results
  • Validate end-to-end robotic cells including cameras, manipulators, jigs, conveyors, and safety interlocks.
  • Run system-level stress tests to ensure reliable operation in noisy, dirty, and high-mix manufacturing environments.
  • Work closely with engineers to reproduce failures, investigate root causes, and ensure fixes are robust
  • Apply creativity to identify edge cases and unexpected user interactions
  • Advocate for reliability and integrity under product pressure, especially for critical or dangerous outcomes

Who You Are

  • Thoughtful, detail oriented, quick to understand new context and requirements
  • Experience testing deployed hardware systems where mission failures are dangerous and expensive
  • Ability to code basic python with strong mechanical / mechatronics experience OR
  • Strong python experience with a desire to learn about the nuances of industrial manipulators
  • Able to define testing processes for complex systems involving both hardware and software components
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, high-ownership environments where quality and safety are paramount
  • Ideally you have worked with articulated arms or industrial automation products previously

Why Join Us

  • Ensure the reliability and safety of cutting-edge robotics systems in real-world deployments
  • High ownership and autonomy where your testing decisions directly influence system quality
  • Work with a collaborative team of engineers building the next generation of intelligent manufacturing automation
  • Competitive compensation including salary and meaningful equity
  • Opportunity to shape the QA strategy and frameworks for a small, high-impact team

We hire high-caliber individuals. If you don’t meet all the listed requirements but have a strong background in QA or software development for physical systems, we encourage you to apply.

If you are passionate about ensuring mission-critical robotics systems operate safely and reliably, we’d love to hear from you.
